The FRESHEST Student-Friendly Events To Attend In Bristol This Summer

Summer is well and truly underway with tons of events lined up in the vibrant city of Bristol. From live music events to open-air cinemas to food and drink festivals. There’s so much to do as a student whilst on break from university. Read our guide to find out what’s on to keep you busy and having a good time in Bristol city centre.

Let’s get going, in no particular order here are the FRESHEST events in Bristol you must go to.

1. Open-Air Cinema – Clifton Downs

Between the 5th-7th August 2022 Adventure Cinema are showcasing some amazing films at Clifton Downs. Experience an outdoor cinema experience with a variety of films to choose from including Pulp Fiction on the 6th August, Mamma Mia on the 5th August, West Side Story on the 6th August and Rocketman on the 7th August.

Bring along a picnic and a blanket to watch a film with your mates. They sell alcohol on-site too if you want to have a few drinks. As well as hot food and snacks – could it get any better!

2. Bank Holiday Summer Terrace Party – Propyard

Let August go out with a bang and celebrate the bank holiday at the vibrant venue, Propyard. They’re hosting a summer terrace party on the 28th August which you can expect good tunes, festivities, food, and drinks.  With tickets being less than £20 why not plan a day with your uni mates?

Food will be available from Jafra and Pizzarova as well as guest street food vendors. You can enjoy an array of Bristol beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options too. Dance your heart out to DJ’s playing House and Disco music – it sure sounds like a party not to be missed!

The full line up is expected to be announced in the coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

3. Dazed X Lakota: Summer DnB Day Party

Dazed are hosting a day party at the iconic Bristol music venue, Lakota on the 13th August. Enjoy seven hours of pure Dnb with DJ Fabio set to headline the event with other great artists like Latte & Toxinate, S9 and Viridity along with many more.

Performances will take place on the outdoor stage, so you can bask in the sun and can enjoy cold slushies, a range of drinks and cocktails. Is there anything better than a day party moving and grooving with your pals?

Tickets start from only £5 so it’s certainly student-friendly – get planning to go in the group chat!

4. Summer Disco Jam – Motion

Motion is hosting a Summer Disco Jam and the disco kings, The Shapeshifters, are set to headline on the 6th August. Motion was voted by DJ Mag’s as the 11th best club in the world so we’re sure it’s going to be buzzing! Horse Meat Disco and Kayper amongst others also feature on the line-up.

Party all day long to funky disco tunes and have a great time with your friends in the warm sunny weather. They have two bars inside the venue as well as street food if you’re feeling a bit peck-ish.

We’re sure this event is going to be one of the highlights of summer in Bristol so get yourself down there!

5. Bingo Lingo – Motion

Bingo Lingo are hosting a summer series of outdoor events at Motion (We can’t get enough of it). There are fun-filled events spanning from now until the end of September so there’s tons of dates to choose from.

You can expect 5 games of bingo with unreal tunes, tacky prizes, stage performers and tons of dancing and singing. These outdoor sessions are a night out to remember with such a good atmosphere, you’ll be loving life with your mates.

Don’t worry about the event being outside, the UK weather is unpredictable but if it rains the game moves inside!

6. Hospitality On The Harbour

Hospitality On The Harbour is taking place on 30th July at one of the most iconic outdoor event spaces in Bristol, Lloyds Amphitheatre.

Spread across two stages is an amazing line up of DnB DJs and is set to be the biggest Hospitality event in Bristol has seen. Hybrid Minds, Kings of the Rollers, High Contrast and Flava D are a few of the unreal artists set to perform at the event.  The DnB culture in Bristol is just amazing!

Enjoy some refreshments such as lagers, cider, spirits and softs, speciality rum bar and cocktails whilst partying. We’re sure that this rave is going to be one to be topped this summer. Imagine partying to DnB tunes on the waterfront with the sun shining down?! The vibes are just top tier.

7. Tokyo World Festival

Tokyo World Festival is an urban and dance music festival which is returning yet again to Bristol. A jam-packed two days is promised in Eastville Park between the 17th-18th of September.

Enjoy a variety of music genres from house to grime to drum and bass with the likes of Mike Skinner, Joel Corry, Above & Beyond and Rejjie Snow being just a few of the amazing names on the two-day line-up.

After the festival days are over there are official After Parties taking place at Bristol’s Motion Nightclub – the party never has to end. It’s no wonder the festival has been dubbed as one of Bristol’s most popular festivals!

8. Forwards Festival

Forwards Festival is a new inner city music event happening on the 3-4th September at Clifton Downs. This year will mark the first addition of the festival and we’re SO excited to see how it goes.

Despite not having any year to compare to, we’re certain it’s going to be amazing with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Jamie XX, Little Simz and Charli XCX srt to perform. Although it takes place in Autumn, technically September is still the holiday for you uni students so say goodbye to the end of summer 2022 in style at this fezzy.
