One of Huddersfield’s most iconic cafes, the Northern Tea House is the place for coffee served up in modern, industrial interiors.

Offering a great menu of over 20 speciality loose teas, this tranquil spot is opposite the Kingsgate Shopping Centre.

So, you can escape the chaos of town and enjoy a warm brew.

Whether you’re fancying a Cinnamon Latte, a Flat White or even Jasmine Chai Tea, this place has it all.

They offer a stellar food menu if you’re feeling peck-ish which includes everything from breakfast plates to all day brunch to lunch dishes to afternoon tea.

Be sure to try their selection of sweet treats too!

If you’re after somewhere to energise you for a study session, this place packs the punch.

2. Coffeevolution

Until Coffeevolution came along, Huddersfield was crying out for a speciality coffee shop.

Situated on Church Street just a few minutes walk from the train station, this place has been serving up exceptional coffees for over 20 years.

Get some studying done whilst you enjoy a freshly prepared black americano and a fruit cake.

Or, if you’re planning on staying a few hours they serve up a banging menu of breakfasts, lunches and pastries.

This spot sources locally roasted specialty coffee from their sister company Bean Brothers Coffee Company.

So, you can buy some coffee beans on the way home!

Located in the heart of the town centre on Victoria Lane, Cafe Society is always worth a visit.

Treat yourself to a macchiato and a full English breakfast before a day of lectures, we know you deserve it.

You can look out across the view of Huddersfield Town Hall as you enjoy your freshly made cup of joe at this little gem.

They offer a wide range of other beverages if you’re looking to kill a few hours on your laptop.

Huddersfield town centre is filled with brilliant cafes to visit as a student, but a highlight is The Keys Kitchen & Coffee House.

If a unique coffee spot is what you’re after, you’ll get it at this quaint venue set amongst the stone vaults of the parish church.

You can catch up with some friends or just relax and enjoy a Chai Latte or specialty tea at this Byram Street cafe.

Trust us, it’s that cosy before you know it you will have been sitting there for hours!

Serving up a mouthwatering menu of all day breakfast, brunch, lunch as well as freshly baked cakes, scones and buns, you can refuel in all the right ways here.

We urge you to try their avocado eggs benedict, it’s unreal.

7. Lost Property Coffee Shop & Kitchen

Huddersfield’s much-loved cafe, Lost Property Coffee Shop & Kitchen, can be found on Byram Street just off from St. George’s Square.

In case you didn’t guess by the name, this independent coffee shop is actually located inside an old lost property office.

What a place to enjoy a brew, aye?

Head chef and owner Paul Ellis has worked in the country’s top Michelin starred restaurants, and brings a gourmet twist to this low-key cafe.

Serving specialty coffees and teas as well as breakfast, lunch and brunch made with fresh and local ingredients, you really need to give this place a try.

We’d highly recommend trying their chocolate brownie and cherry cake to pair with your coffee of choice.

8. Turntable Coffee & Vinyl

When it comes to Huddersfield coffee shops, Turntable Coffee & Vinyl is certainly somewhere which stands out for the crowd.

It’s a cafe and family run record store in one!

Despite being a newcomer to Huddersfield’s cafe culture, this friendly venue offers the best locally sourced coffee and cakes, delicious sandwiches, soups, wraps and toasties.

With live music, new and used vinyls for sale as well as nice coffee and delicious food, you can’t ask for much more as a student!

In terms of what to order, we’d go for a Cortado with a pesto, mozzarella and sun-dried tomato sandwich.

For us, we live for their iced caramel cappuccinos to get our coffee fix.

Of course, they also have all your sweet cravings covered with the likes of blueberry and lemon slices and nutty carrot cake.

For a whole latte love, be sure to take a visit to all-time favourite Espresso Corner. 

This light and stylish coffee shop is located on the corner of Wood Street and Kirkgate.

So, you won’t have to venture too far from your student home, or campus.

Watch life pass you by whilst sipping on some great drinks like their healthy Beetroot Latte.

If that’s not for you, opt for their classic Long Black to energise you for the day ahead.

Each of their hot drinks are also served with the option of dairy or non dairy milks for free of charge.
