Christmas In Guildford: Festive Things Students Can Do

It’s officially December so that only means one thing… Christmas is almost here!

Just because the German Christmas Market isn’t taking place in Guildford this year, it doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of festive shopping experiences to be had!

Take a trip to the Christmas Farmers’ Market on Guildford High Street where you can find a wide variety of delicious produce and unique gifts from over 50 different vendors.

Some of the things you can find include baked goods, pickles, chutneys and herbs, Farm BBQ, plants and local crafts.

There’s even some alcoholic drinks available if you fancy a few tipples with your mates!

Running from 10:30am until 3:30pm on 6th December, this is a great option for a festive day out with your friends and you can treat yourself too.

Plus, you’ll be supporting some local businesses so it’s a win all round.

2. Indoor Christmas Market

Living in Guilford is a blessing with so many things to do at Christmas time.

The vibrant space ZERO Carbon is hosting an indoor Christmas Market pop up on numerous dates with a variety of festive products and gifts to explore, and of course plenty of festive cheer to enjoy!

Forget about walking round a Christmas Market in the cold, you can be nice and toasty at this indoor festive heaven.

Find some handmade pieces for your nearest and dearest, try some delicious goodies, or get a unique present for your Secret Santa giftee.

The best part is, entry is free and there’s multiple dates to choose from with the event opening on the 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th of December.

It’s a great chance to get any last minute presents, go see what it’s like!

3. ABBA Christmas Party – Guildford

For all you Christmas party lovers out there, you simply must get a ticket to the ABBA Christmas Party.

Dress up as a festive dancing queen and sing along to the best tracks with your uni mates, sounds like a fun night eh?

Did we mention, the event is taking place at the one and only Popworld on the 3rd December so you’re certainly in for a good time.

Expect cheap drinks, all the best vibes, some Christmas tunes and of course plenty of festive fits.

4. Bingo Lingo Xmas Special

Did someone say…Christmas Bingo?!

If you’re looking for things to do in Guildford for the festive season then Bingo Lingo is an absolute must.

You can expect stage battles, hilarious rounds, wonderful prizes, cheap drinks and the best tunes by the DJ Santa and stage elves.

Taking place on the 1st December, this is gonna be one party-filled bingo night!

Festive dress is highly recommended, get your best jumper and head on down to the University of Surrey Student Union.

5. Caribbean Christmas @ Turtle Bay

Let’s be honest, bottomless brunch at Turtle Bay goes off at any time of the year, but at Christmas it really is the place to be.

Celebrate the Jolly season with your pals and make the most of 2 hours of unlimited cocktails, fizz, red stripe, mocktails, soft drinks and hot drinks at the Caribbean Christmas Brunch.

There might even be some Christmas tipples you can knock back.

You can even choose a tasty brunch dish, burger or roti or if you fancy it, go for one of their Christmas special plates – we sure would.

With prices from £32 it’s sure a great way to gather with your mates and cheers to the festivities!

The best part? You can book up until 5pm so don’t worry if your in uni until the afternoon.

6. Festive Meals At The March Hare

We told you the restaurants in Guildford are filled with festive dishes, didn’t we?

Whilst there are tons of eateries to visit during the holidays, are absolute fave is The March Hare.

Located a short walk from Guildford Castle, this restaurant is a must-visit for a Christmas meal with friends.

Their menu offers traditional pub food and French brasserie dishes, with a seasonal menu for the festivities, you’re certainly gonna want to give it a try.

For £34.50 you can get a three course meal with coffee and a mince pie, along with a variety of delicious starters, mains and desserts to choose from.

Christmas dining can’t get much better than this!

7. Decorate Your Student Accommodation

Living in luxury student accommodation is a blessing, especially with amazing interiors and super comfortable features.

There’s one thing missing from your room though…festive decorations!

With it officially being December why not grab your friends, go to the shops, and stock up on some tinsel?

No matter what your taste, you can really make your student accommodation your own, whether you want a miniature Christmas tree or something a little more extravagant.

There’s something really uplifting about putting Christmas decorations up, so put on some festive music and get going.
