1. Przym  

Przym is a staple of nightlife culture within Leeds and is somewhere you have to go to during fresher’s week. Located within the Merrion Centre on the ever-popular Woodhouse Lane, it’s not one to be missed whilst in your first year.  

If you’re looking for a cheap night out with a buzzing atmosphere this should be your go to, with three rooms to explore with resident DJs spinning the best House, EDM, RnB & Disco tunes, as well as VIP Booths to hire out.  

Przym host student nights like Antic Wednesdays, Quids In Monday’s and Fix Fridays so no matter what day of the week, you’ll be able to experience a party with your flatmates.  

They also host exciting events with celebrity appearances so, keep your eyes peeled for events to come!

2. Mint Warehouse 

Mint Warehouse has been hosting nights out for party lovers in Leeds for the past decade, and they just keep getting better and better.  

The legendary venue underwent a massive refurb in 2020 and now features a LED light ceiling and a brilliant sound system, along with three-rooms of music and an outdoor terrace. 

Dance your heart out with your new pals at a varied programme of events with DJs spinning the best of techno, house, dubstep and drum n bass.

Despite being a bit far out from the city centre, you can hop in a taxi in a 10-minute drive and boogie the night away. 

If you’re keen to experience the electronic music scene whilst you’re a student in Leeds, then Mint is the place for you!

3. The HiFi Club 

The HiFi Club is an award-winning nightclub and live music venue in the heart of Leeds city centre which has been bringing in partygoers and students for the last 20 odd years.  

They offer a range of late-night events in their basement setting with a variety of music genres including soul, funk, jazz, indie, rock and hip hop.

Their most iconic event is their weekly MoveOnUp soul event which takes place every Wednesday (you’ve gotta go).  

They also host The Sunday Joint with free live music every week as well as comedy sessions every Saturday evening.  

It’s a great club to have a good time with your friends dancing the night away and their drink prices are certainly student-friendly!

4. The Key Club 

The Key Club is the number one Rock and Alternative nightclub in Leeds, which plays host to gigs and club nights. 

Ran by local promoters Slam Dunk, Key Club offers students and club-goers two rooms of tunes to party along to in their underground space.

Experience their weekly club nights including Slam Dunk night every Tuesday, their student alternative nights Fuel Fridays and The Garage every Saturdays which is their rock and guilty pleasure event. 

Not only do they have great rooms to let your hair down and boogie, but they also have a quiet room with sofas and arcade games if you’re wanting to chill out and have a chat with your pals.

Not to mention, their super cheap drinks prices with a variety of bevvs to choose from. 

Could it get any better?! Well, they showcase the best in local, national and international touring artists so if you’re keen to experience the alternative music scene, this is the place to mosh around!

5. Wire  

Wire is an underground nightclub which showcases some of Leeds most-loved club nights like La Rumba, as well as events with a wide range of genres like indie to rock to alternative to dance. 

Located on the buzzing Call Lane, the nightlife hotspot within Leeds, Wire offers a great night out for students. Despite being small compared to most nightclubs with only one room and a 300-person capacity to party it up in, the atmosphere at Wire is sick.  

Their sound system is brilliant, and their stage has seen sets from big-name DJs from around the world.

Drinks at Wire are affordable and it’s so easy to get to, with other nearby bars just across the street if you’re keen to go all out!

6. The Stone Roses Bar 

The Stone Roses Bar is a popular bar and nightclub located on the iconic Briggate street in the centre of Leeds.  

This late-night space is the ultimate venue for indie music lovers (if that wasn’t obvious from its name) with an interior of 90s nostalgia with posters of iconic bands, plus drums and cycles hanging above the dancefloor.  

Sing along to their great tunes all night long with indie classics playing at their regular club nights. Head down on a Thursday for A Certain Romance, Cavorting every Friday or Love Spreads every Saturday night.  

There’s always good vibes in this place and it has one of the latest closing times out of the nightclubs in Leeds with a 6am finish!

Although, the drink prices are on the more expenny side so be prepared.

7. Distrikt  

Distrikt is an underground bar and nightclub in Leeds, located on Duncan St just down the road from the Trinity Shopping Centre.  

If you want to experience the best electronic music venue in the city, then this is you’re go-to. With international and upcoming local DJs spinning the decks at Distrikt throughout the week for the past 10 years.

Have a boogie in their intimate indoor room or head out to their outdoor garden space – its great during the summer! 

The best part about this place is that every night is free entry so forget about forking out your student loan on a ticket to get in, all’s you need to worry about is money for ya bevvies! They have special drinks offers every week so you can enjoy a tipple with your mates.  

This intimate venue is only a 150-capacity so make sure you arrive early if you’re curious to see what Distrikt is all about.

8. The Warehouse  

The Warehouse has been a strong contender of the Leeds nightlife scene for over 30 years, making it one of the longest running clubs in the city – it even opened before the Hacienda!  

The three-room nightclub and music venue offers exciting club nights, events, and gigs for tons of students to enjoy from ABBA events to 80s nights to DnB nights to techno nights to indie gig nights.

There really is something for everyone at The Warehouse, so if you’re looking for a good time with your housemates then this is the place – we recommend going to Triple Cooked during freshers!  

They even have couches and places to sit and chill if you’re keen to relax, and with their 1000-person capacity for club nights, we’re sure you’ll meet tons of like-minded people within the student community.

9. O2 Academy  

The O2 Academy is not only one of the best places to go to experience some live music but it’s also one of the top nightclubs in Leeds. 

Saturday nights are the time to go to the o2 with PROJEKT a buzzing nightlife event with performers, resident DJs, confetti canons, drinks offers and tons of people to meet and party with.

You’ll come to learn that this night out is one of the most loved of student nights in Leeds, and it’s been running for 9 years so they sure know how to host a decent night.  

The o2 also host events during the week like Indie Thursdays which is the biggest indie night in Leeds. This night out gives students the opportunity to sing their heart out to throwback classics from the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Oasis – the vibes are immaculate!  

Not to mention, the capacity of this venue is 2000 so it’s one of the biggest nightlife venues in the city. You can also grab tickets to Bongos Bingo which takes place here – aye up!

10. Beaver Works  

We couldn’t not finish off with this place, Beaver Works is like the god of nightclubs in Leeds (it’s for sure our fave).  

There are so many unique attributes to Beavers, there really is no place like it. Firstly, it’s a venue in an old industrial building with 6 rooms to explore, two large outdoor areas with outside food stands and fairground rides – yep, literally!

Not to mention, there’s so many cool things to explore inside, but we’ll leave that for you to discover.  

There’s tons of different events showcasing music from techno to drum and bass to disco, no two events are the same and their sound systems are banging!

They also host club nights like Applebum, which is one of the best urban club nights there is, with throwback anthems to new tunes. Keep your eye out for their events calendar, cos’ they even host festivals!  

The only thing which is a pain is that you’ll have to get an Uber or Taxi here as its quite far out from the city centre, but you’ll have the craziest parties here.
