Newcastle

1. Pleased To Meet You

Pleased To Meet You is a vibrant gin bar and restaurant located in the High Bridge quarter of Newcastle city centre. They stock more than 100 types of speciality gin as well as 10 different types of craft beers and amazing cocktails.

PTMY have a 2 for £12 deal on during weekdays 3-7pm so if you’re finishing off from uni for the afternoon, head here for a few cocktails and a catch up with your pals. Personally, we’re partial to their Aperol Spritz but that’s just us!

When you’re done having a natter in the lovely inside interior, head out to one of the outside areas to enjoy some sunshine (if there is any that is). If you’re going on a weekend, they have live music Friday-Sunday so you can have a sing along whilst enjoying some drinks.

2. Alvinos Bar

Alvinos is a laid-back yet funky bar in the heart of the Geordie city, located not too far from Newcastle Train station. This bar is similar to the Tardis in the fact that its bigger on the inside, as most people believe it to be quite small. Although, its actually rather big being spread across three floors, with two bars and a rooftop terrace.

The atmosphere here is simply unreal, no matter what time of day you visit. They’re open 11am till date most days, so if you want to enjoy a few drinks in the afternoon with some mates this is the place to go.

The bar is also great of an evening with their DJ nights on Friday and Saturday nights – who doesn’t love a good boogie?!

In terms of drinks, they have an everchanging menu where they’re always keeping things fresh. Expect a varied menu of cocktails, craft beers, lagers and ciders to choose from. Don’t worry if you don’t fancy an alcoholic drink, they have a range of soft drinks, mocktails and hot drinks too!

ChachaBuchi is the place to go if you want to live a life of luxury whilst on a night out on Newcastle’s Diamond Strip. Having just opened up in 2021, after a £1m re-furb of the former Florita’s venue, this bar offers students the perfect place to enjoy a few drinks and have a bloody good time.

From their glamour décor with plenty of sofas and booths to chillax in to their dancefloor and disco balls, with live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This really is a brilliant bar to have a drink in, with tons of options too. Such as cocktails, tap beer, ciders, wines, bubbles, spirits as well as hot drinks and soft drinks.

There really is something for everyone to enjoy here. When you want to get some fresh air, their outdoor garden area is equipped with firepits so you can get toasty and warm. Needless to say, this bar has to be the top of your list for bars in Newcastle!
