University of Southampton

Being in the global top 100 universities, you’re guaranteed a university experience unlike any other at the University of Southampton. Being a founding member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities in the U.K, this uni is renowned for providing brilliant educational services. It’s also huge, like HUGE! It has 5 closely connected campuses,  1 in the nearby city of Winchester, and 1 in the Malaysian city of Iskandar Puteri.

Solent University

Based right in the heart of all the action, Solent University is a popular uni among students, especially for its excellent facilities and student life. It has a strong mission and vision strategy which leads the uni through the years to 2025. They also celebrate their values, which are:

Carnicero Steakhouse

For all the meat lovers out there, you have to visit Carnicero Steakhouse. Situated in the heart of Oxford Street, Southampton, Carnicero offers  a wide range of fresh, contemporary cuisine. Of course, one of their main dishes has to be the delicious steaks they have on offer. However, if you’re feeling like something a little different, a firm favourite from many has to be the grilled chicken, bacon and cheese burger! 

Ennio’s

Who doesn’t love Italian cuisine? ‘Cos we certainly do! Expect mouth-watering dishes such as Linguini Marinara and the Carre’d’agnello. They even serve a great selection of drinks, perfect if you’re looking for somewhere to bring your flatmates!

Banana Wharf

Boasting exceptional views over the waterfront, Banana Wharf is the place to be (especially on a warm, summer day!).It’s open 7 days a week and offers a buzzing atmosphere you just won’t find anywhere else. If we were to suggest something to eat from here, we’d have to recommend the Thai Green Curry or Buttermilk Chicken burger, oozing with cheese! If you’re a veggie or vegan, you have nothing to worry about because this delightful eatery provides a selection of foods suitable…you’ll be dying to try them all!

Mexifun

Now, if you’re looking for a delicious meal right next to your Southampton student accommodation, then Mexifun is the one for you. Overflowing with tasty treats to try, you’re bound to impress your pals if you take them here for a spot of dinner! Prepare to indulge in all things Mexican, from burritos and glazed wings, to rice bowls and enchiladas! Is your mouth watering? ‘Cos ours are!

Nights Out

Feeling ready to pick up those dancing shoes and get grooving?…and no, that wasn’t a rhetorical question! Near our luxury student accommodation in Southampton, you can find some of the city’s top nightclubs and bars that welcome students with open arms. From cosy pubs to vibrant clubs, you’re spoilt for choice whilst living here for university! Check out some of the best below…

Switch

Now this is the place to be for students. A relatively new venue with state of the art sound systems and lighting setups, the experience that Switch provides is on par with some of the world’s best super clubs! Unfortunately, one of Southampton’s buzzing clubs – Oceana – had to close due to the effects of COVID-19. On the flip side, they’ve transferred ALL their amazing nights over to Switch, to make sure you don’t miss out. This means that on Wednesday’s, instead of wearing pink, you HAVE to get dressed up in your fave fancy dress costume! This buzzing student night will be a memorable one for sure.

Orange Rooms

The Orange Rooms is open seven days a week and is the place to be for a quiet pint, a big birthday bash, or a standard party night out it caters for all. It’s an independently owned bar & cocktail lounge at the heart of Southampton, offering a range of classics and new creations in a quirky, on-trend venue. 

Buddha Lounge

Buddha Lounge is a fantastic venue for you and your besties to visit. It has an in house DJ which plays the finest rhythms for your aural pleasure. Expect a vibe here that cannot be matched elsewhere in Southampton! If you’re feeling super fancy, you could even treat yourself to a VIP table,  which offers a fully hosted & bottle service experience. This is a fab idea for any birthday treats you want to celebrate!

Sport

Even if you’re not a football fan, it is difficult to escape the fact that Southampton Football Club is a huge deal in the city. It’s worth a visit to experience St Mary’s Stadium, where the premier league is played every week. If you are a student aged between 18-21 you can access some cut-price tickets starting at just £20. This is an incredible price to see top-flight professional football in this country!

For the cricket lovers, The Ageas Bowl is the venue you want to go to. You can grab tickets to see some of the top teams in the world play here, so don’t miss out if you’re looking for a relaxing day in the sunshine!

Living on the south coast means that you’re a stone’s throw away from some amazing countryside and coastal walks. Cycling and hiking routes can be found in abundance, as can plenty of watersports at Southampton Water Activities Centre. Some of our fave activities include Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing and Boardsports. 

Shopping

If you’re looking for a bit of retail therapy whilst studying in Southampton, don’t worry – Westquay Shopping Centre is the place for you! This modern building is absolutely massive and is home to an abundance of shops and dining areas for you to enjoy. Whether you’re driving, walking, cycling or using public transport, getting to Westquay couldn’t be easier, especially with how close it is to our student accommodation in Southampton!

Theatre

Who doesn’t love the theatre? Especially after a busy day of uni, there’s nothing better than relaxing in front of a real stage production rather than the TV! When studying here, you need to visit the Mayflower. You can experience touring West End musicals, dance, comedy, live music, opera and plays. The venue itself is magnificent! So expect performances to match this majestic arena.
