Royal Holloway Students’ Union

You are not far away from everything the Students’ Union of Royal Holloway University has to offer.

It is just a 20-minute walk in a straight line down the road to the Students’ Union from Straits Garden.

If you’ve had a particularly messy drunken night though you can add on however many more minutes you think it would take you to get home!

The Students’ Union is one of the best student nights out you can have in Egham. The venue is very popular and hosts different club nights every week throughout various venues inside and outside the building.

Freshers Festival at the start of every year is spectacular, and every first-year student needs to be there, as it is the perfect introduction to the social side of student life and gives you the perfect picture of what it’ll be like to live in Egham.

For regular themed nights in the Union, Flawless is the RnB, Hip Hop, and grime night that hosts some great acts making their way up through the scene.

This takes place every Wednesday night. On a Friday night, there is always a big club night with a different theme every time, so expect the genres of music to switch up week to week and to see loads of great acts.

Throughout the union there are different bars and big rooms, so you can choose to chill out with a drink in the small bar at Tommy’s Lounge, listening to what the DJ is playing, taking a break from the main hall that has the massive bar and main stage for acts.

Medicine

Medicine is the second biggest venue at the university, with an indoor bar and an outside beer garden for the warmer months and some really great nights throughout the year.

For the big nights at Medicine, Toast is every Monday night, MedsWeds every Wednesday, and MedsBevs every Friday night.

It runs from 9pm till late, so you’ll be happy that you are not that far away from Straits Garden to get home at the end of the night.

For good drinks, good tunes and good times with your friends Medicine is where you’ll want to head to whilst living in Egham.

The Packhorse

Even though The Packhouse is a pub, we’ve included within our guide of nightlife spots as it is run by the Students’ Union.

It is THE student pub in the city and is right by the Union so under a 20-minute walk from Straits Garden.

All the profits are reinvested back into student services, which makes it an even more appealing place for you to spend your money.

Not a late, late night, but you can spend all night after uni relaxing here with a few beers, having food from Tommy’s Kitchen just inside the building, and maybe leaving from here for a club night inside the Union or further afield.
