1. The Brunswick

The Brunswick is one of the most popular venues on North Street for students, and for good reason too.

This independent pub is the perfect place to head to for a few drinks and a bite to eat with friends, with a menu offering up plenty of comfort foods to choose from.

A must try is their signature ‘Brunswick Burger’ with Smashed Beef Patties, Emmental, Monterey Jack, Burger Sauce, Pickles and Potato Brioche.

They also have options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free diets like their Vegan Cheese Burger Fries so, everyone can forget about cooking for one night!

We’ve heard that their Sunday dinners are a contender for one of the best roasts in the city too, but tables get nabbed up fast so be sure to book in advance if you’re wanting to give it a try.

When it comes to drinks, they have 9 keg lines, and 6 cask lines, and over 50 beers in the fridge, as well as a selection of cocktails, wines and spirits for you to choose between.

Spread across two floors, this quirky little place is open until late everyday of the week and offers up a great atmosphere for students!

2. The Swine That Dines

One of North Street’s finest restaurants, The Swine That Dines serves up a menu of modern British cuisine and local seasonal produce, making it a great choice to head to with friends no matter the occasion.

This tiny restaurant may be small in size but they’ve built up quite a reputation for themselves since opening back in 2011, now over 10 years later, locals and students flock to this venue to enjoy the incredible flavours and well presented foods.

Despite their menu focusing on fine dining, it’s accessible for all and is reasonably priced to suit your student budget.

You can indulge in the likes of Pork Belly with Chicory and Marsala as well as Goats Cheese Souffle served with Confit Fennel and Hazelnut.

Open Thursday-Sunday for dinner, this fantastic gem of a place does get booked up fast so, if you’re wanting to try it for yourself make sure to book a table to avoid disappointment!

3. Three’s A Crowd Leeds

Offering up quality British food in a chilled environment, Three’s A Crowd is the first venue to hit Leeds, with the original restaurant based in Harrogate.

This recently opened Michelin-recommended gastropub is well known across Yorkshire for their high quality and locally sourced food.

With an ever changing menu, no two visits are the same either so you’re always guaranteed something different.

You can socialise with friends at this gastropub along North Street and try their new Spring menu featuring gourmet dishes with international influences.

This place is open 6 days a week but it has just opened in March so we’d expect demand will be high so, if you’re looking to take a visit make sure to book prior!

3. Wen’s

Next up in our guide to North Street venues is Wen’s, a restaurant where you can enjoy authentic and home-cooked Chinese food in relaxed surroundings.

This family owned venue is a popular place for both locals and students, and we can certainly understand why.

Some of their stand out dishes from Chef Wen include Stir-fried hot chilli pepper with Chinese style bacon, Pickled Chinese leaf with pork belly and frozen tofu and Steamed whole sea bass – these all sound to die for, right?

If you’re yet to give this restaurant a try, we cannot urge you enough to plan a meal with your friends here.

Whether you’re looking for a midweek bite to eat, somewhere to head to for a celebration or somewhere to grab a takeaway after a busy day, this place provides!

5. BrewDog North Street Leeds

With a menu made with fresh ingredients including sourdough pizzas and mouth-watering chicken wings, as well as dishes suited to vegans and vegetarians, you can’t ask for much more when it comes to places to unwind after a busy day!

Have a few drinks with friends from their selection of craft beers from across the globe, ditch the cooking for a night and get competitive in a game of shuffleboard, vintage arcade games or pinball machines.

Don’t worry if you’re not much of a beer drinker they also offer a wide range of cocktails with a 2 for £12 deal after 8pm everyday of the week – we don’t mind if we do!

If it didn’t already sound like heaven, this bar on the fringes of the city centre is also dog friendly and has the best vibes as well as plenty of seating!
