When Is Pancake Day 2023?

Pancake Day 2023 (or known by most as Shrove Tuesday) is on Tuesday 21st February 2023.

The holiday always falls on a Tuesday, the seventh week before Easter and the day before Ash Wednesday.

1. My Old Dutch

A haven for all pancake lovers, My Old Dutch is one of London’s most popular destinations for everything pancakes. 

They’ve actually been around since 1958 and since have expanded into three different restaurants in London, giving you plenty of options wherever you are in the city. 

Offering every style of pancakes you can ever dream of, prepare to be in awe once you’re sat opening the pages to this delicious menu.

Fancy a breakfast treat? Make sure to opt for the Full English pancake.

For something a little different, why not take the plunge and Chicken Curry pancake?

It’s most likely something you’ll either have never heard of, or even tried, so take the taste test and let us know your thoughts!

When it comes to the sweet stuff, a firm favourite has to be their Strawberries, Blueberries, Maple Syrup & Cream toppings.

Honestly, even writing this now has our taste buds tingling!

There’s too much to choose from, so expect to visit here more than once in your academic year.

2. Where The Pancakes Are

Where The Pancakes Are is a hugely popular independent restaurant in London.

It literally offers pancakes, and pancakes…and more pancakes! 

What we love so much about this place is their story and the reason why they became who they are.

It’s foundations are built on connecting food with people and Patricia, the founding owner of the restaurant, realised that pancakes were the way to do it.

When it comes to their food offering, you’re spoilt for choice with sweet and savoury pancakes. 

The dishes are completely made from scratch, with fresh ingredients and nothing artificial.

Choose the Banana Marshmallow for a tasty layer of banana, hazelnut-cocoa-nib praline, basil marshmallow, with a choice of sea salted caramel or chocolate.

For something a little different, the Rose Harissa Shakshouka is a firm favourite of many. 

Specifically on Shrove Tuesday 2023, Where The Pancakes Are will be keeping their doors open from 7am till late, so don’t miss out for some of the best dutch pancakes.

3. Drunch

Are you wantin’ to sit in a relaxing and artsy atmosphere with a stack of fluffy American style pancakes?

Well then, Drunch should be superrrr high on your bucket list!

Boasting quaint decor and a café-style eatery, this is the perfect place to visit for delicious pancakes with three different venues to choose from. 

They offer so much on their menu, from savoury items such as Eggs Royale and Superfood Salads, but what we’re here for is their renowned ‘Naughty’ menu.

From fresh Crepes to Heart Shaped Pancakes, Drunch is smashing it out of the park when it comes to their brunch and breakfast menu.

For a real Insta-grammable treat, go for their Heart shaped pancakes filled with Nutella and hazelnuts!

4. The Breakfast Club

We all know the iconic film named the Breakfast Club, so we can imagine everyone has high expectations when it comes to naming a restaurant something similar.

Well, we’re not here to give you any bad information because this is most definitely one of the best pancake places in London you could ever visit!

From vegan pancakes to Blueberry delights, there are so many brilliant comfort food options for you to choose from – prepare to fall in love.

If it was us, we’d simply have to go for the Big Stack which is a triple stack of pancakes with crispy bacon, hash browns, a sausage patty, cheese, caramelised onions and a fried egg.

Talk about go big or go home, right?!

Lucky for you, The Breakfast Club have loaaads of restaurants, all within reaching distance using the London Underground.

You’ll never find yourself searching for the next brunch place, ‘cos you have so many to choose from here! 

 

5. Sunday In Brooklyn

Serving up Brooklyn-style food (incase you didn’t guess) this venue is so inviting and the perfect spot to get your pancake fix.

The name itself makes us dream about a neighbourhood side street in New York with diners lining the streets…mmmm who’s booking a table?!

When it comes to food, you need to try the Sunday pancakes from Sunday In Brooklyn. 

They’re BEYOND insane, and the only thing on the menu when it comes to pancakes (which is a slight shame).

Dripping with Hazelnut Maple Praline and Brown Butter, you’re guaranteed to want more of these fluffy pancakes whilst living in London. 

We know, there’s not much choice when it comes to pancake day items on the menu here, but nonetheless the vibe is worth heading down for!

6. Christopher’s

For a weekend brunch menu like no other, Christopher’s in Covent Garden is the place to be.

There’s no better way to start your day than with Blueberry buttermilk pancakes with Blueberry compote and maple syrup from this place.

If that isn’t for you, they also serve up Coconut pancakes with Berries, maple syrup, coconut and yoghurt.

There’s so much selection to choose from at Christopher’s with french toast also on the menu – you’re in for a tasty treat!

The interior of the restaurant itself is elegant and will charm anyone who walks through the doors.

You’re bound to be blown away by the setting of your pancakes, head on down!

7. CA Japanese Pancakes

A little further out but nonetheless a great spot to get your pancake cravings sorted is CA Japanese Pancakes.

This vibrant and trendy venue offers up soufflé pancakes and aesthetic brunch dishes for you to feast upon.

There’s absolutely tons to choose from with savoury and sweet options so no matter how you like your pancakes in the mornin’, they have you sorted out.

If it was us, we’d have to order the Coffee Addict which is made with the roasting party blend, velvety coffee cream and coffee ice cream scoop.

Uh, coffee AND pancakes, only the two best things every student needs!

If that’s not your style, they also have the red fruit and cream with strawberry, redberries, homemade whipped cream, icing sugar and maple syrup.

8. Stack & Still – Pancake Pioneers
