Are you looking to study in the wonderful city of Edinburgh for the 21/22 academic year and need some top tips on Edinburgh Travel?

Maybe you’re looking for the perfect student accommodation to ensure you have the best experience whilst studying in Edinburgh?

LOOK NO FURTHER! We understand that Edinburgh travel can be a bit overwhelming, so we’ve taken the time to pull together the best ways to travel to Edinburgh’s colleges/universities from our amazing student accommodations! 

Straits Meadow

61 – 31 London Road, Edinburgh, EH7 6AA 

Our brand-new accommodation for the 21/22 academic year is in a prime location for commuting to many of Edinburgh universities/colleges, as well as having lots of local amenities and landmarks close by! 

Not only do we have a large variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes on our doorstep, but we are also only a 15-minute stroll to get to the heart of the city centre!

If you’re looking to escape away from the city, Portobello beach is only a 10-minute bus journey away from us – which makes for an amazing day out or place to go to enjoy some sunshine and clear your head.

University of Edinburgh (1.7 miles)

University of Edinburgh

The main campus at George Square is only a 30-minute walk from us and whilst walking you can enjoy the lovely scenery through Holyrood Park or go through the Royal Mile, which makes for a pleasant commute experience.

If you are not feeling like walking, you can cycle in around 10 minutes or hop on a number 5 or 45 Lothian Bus from directly outside which will get you there in 15-20 mins.

Edinburgh College, Milton Road Campus (2.8 miles)

We are the closest privately-owned student accommodation to Edinburgh College – Milton Road Campus with a direct bus link from across the road.

You can get the number 33 or 113 Lothian Bus which only takes 13 minutes to reach campus or if you fancy a cycle, it only takes about 15 minutes! 

Queen Margaret University (4.6 Miles)

If you are studying at Queen Margaret University, you will be able to get a number 45 Lothian Bus from directly outside which will get you to campus in around 25 minutes!

For those who are looking to cycle the route is easy to follow and will take you around 30 minutes – the perfect way to get your daily exercise in! 

Goods Corner

11 Liberton Road, Edinburgh, EH16 6FU 

Goods Corner

Goods Corner sits nestled on the corner of Liberton Road and Gilmerton Road.

Travelling around Edinburgh for classes, attractions, food, shopping or exercise is nothing but convenient.

With bus stops situated at either side of the building, you have access to 8 different bus routes, heading into town or out towards Straiton retail park and beyond! 

We also have a large bike store at Goods Corner secured with a coded lock for your convenience – perfect if you want to explore on two wheels.

With Holyrood Palace and Arthur’s seat a short walk away, the site is surrounded by beautiful views and fantastic places to get out on your daily exercise! 

We are only a stone’s throw away from Cameron Toll shopping centre, home to Aldi and Sainsburys as well as many cafes and boutiques – you will be sure to find everything you need here and if not, the city centre is only a short distance away! 

You can wander up Newington Rd and experience the breath-taking aromas of cuisines spilling out from the local restaurants or take advantage of the many bars and pubs. 

University of Edinburgh – King’s Building (0.3 Miles)

You can’t get much closer to the University of Edinburgh – King’s Building than us, as the campus, is just a 6-minute walk away.

If you are a Masters or PHD student this means it will minimise travel time to ensure you get the most out of your day! 

University of Edinburgh – Main Campus (1.6 Miles)

The main campus for the University of Edinburgh is a leisurely 30-minute walk through Newington and The Meadows, passing many local cafes for your daily coffee fix.

If you aren’t feeling like walking, you are only a 12-minute bus journey on a large number of Lothian Buses from right outside Good Corner – you can get the number 3, 8, 29, 7, 31, 3, or 47.

Alternatively, if you wish to get your legs moving, a cycle would be just as quick, and a fun alternative for Edinburgh travel!

The Royal Infirmary (2.2 Miles)

If you are a student on placement at The Royal Infirmary, we are in a fantastic location to commute to the hospital.

You can get a number of Lothian Buses from right outside of Goods Corner, which will only take you around 15 minutes – you can get the number 3, 8, 29, 31, or 37.

On a sunny day why not make the 30-minute walk or 10-minute cycle if you’re feeling up to it!
