1. Harveys Bar & Kitchen

Kick starting our guide to the best restaurants in Huddersfield is Harveys Bar and Kitchen.

Considering they’re voted as number one on TripAdvisor, we couldn’t not give this place a mention.

Situated in the heart of the town centre on Westgate, this award-winning restaurant offers tapas, burgers, hanging kebabs and hand-rolled stone baked pizzas to name a few.

Go for a meal with your friends and enjoy a mouth-watering dish like their ‘Lemon & Garlic Chicken Kebab’ with tender chicken breast marinated in lemon, oregano, thyme and garlic.

It comes served with sourdough flatbread, salad, hummus, tzatziki and chips – how tasty!

This trendy bar and restaurant even offer a variety of lagers, wines, cocktails, mocktails and champagnes if you’re up for a good time.

Our go-to tipple’s are the passionfruit margarita or the Smokey amaretto sour.

Whilst walk-ins are welcome, we’d recommend booking this place in advance.

2. Gringo’s Mexican Smokehouse

Gringo’s is the type of authentic restaurant where you visit time and time again, maybe one day you change your mind and head somewhere else, but it doesn’t hit the spot quite the same.

They serve a variety of both traditional Mexican plates and smokehouse dishes including fajitas, nachos, quesadillas, burritos, enchiladas and chimichangas.

Why not try their ‘Meaty BBQ Smokehouse Quesadilla’ with slow-cooked pulled pork, spicy lamb and chicken served with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, Mexican rice and salad? We’re starving just thinking about it!

If you’re veggie or vegan don’t worry, they have menus to suit everyone’s dietary requirements.

They also offer tons of bevvies like beers, wines, cocktails as well as rum and tequila-based drinks.

You’ll find Gringo’s Mexican Smokehouse at the railway arches just outside the city centre.

As of recently, they’ve also started to offer takeaway so you can order to your student flat.

3. Grappolo Italian Restaurant

Another widely popular restaurant in Hudds for both locals and students is Grappolo.

Despite being a little far out from the city centre in Lockwood, it’s worth taking a visit here for some delicious authentic Italian food.

If Mediterranean dishes like pizza, pasta, grilled steaks and risotto is what you’re after, then you’ll be in heaven with their extensive menu.

Specialities include their Pizza Rustica with calabrian nduja sausage, fennel and caramelised onions.

If you’re not a fan of spice, give their Calzone a try, filled with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham and mushrooms.

Room for pudding? Munch down on their Sticky Toffee Pavlova – it’s not one to turn down!

The atmosphere here is just the best, with a warm and friendly setting where you can socialise with your pals and enjoy a late-night meal.

If you’re on the lookout for some Turkish cuisine then head down to The Ephesus Restaurant.

You can’t go wrong with their traditional Turkish dishes like lamb kofte, chicken sauté, lamb moussaka, special mixed grill, and calamari.

The food here is fresh, full of exotic flavours and generously portioned so you and your friends can forget about cooking for one night and feast on some amazing scran.

For your main, the Meat Paneer is super popular amongst customers with succulent pieces of meat cooked in medium spices with Indian cheese and served with rice.

This place really pushes the boundaries when it comes to Thai and Japanese food with tons of authentic plates for you to munch upon.

The vibe of this place is colourful and relaxing with beautiful Asian interiors.

You’ll certainly have a unique dining experience whilst trying some of their lovely dishes like their Katsu chicken curry or their tofu tempura.

Botafogo Grill has been making a name for itself in Huddersfield – you’re missing out big time if you haven’t tried it!

Situated in the beating heart of the town centre on John William Street, this place prides themselves on providing great-tasting Brazilian dishes.

You really won’t find anywhere like it in West Yorkshire, as they bring the traditional Brazilian way of serving meats to the UK.

The way it works is simple, you can help yourself to their salad bar for salads, dips and toppings or order some nibbles to get started.

Then when you’re ready for your meat feast, simply turn your card to green and the chefs will start bringing out a selection of meats.

If you get full up or need a break, turn your card to red.

If you love a good all you can eat, this place does it with a twist for just £27.10.

Initially, it might seem a bit pricy, but you can eat as much of their fantastic food as you like – don’t mind if we do!

8. Med-one Restaurant

When it comes to Huddersfield restaurants, if you want to try an authentic taste of Lebanon then get yourself down to Med-one Restaurant.

Located on Westgate, it might be smaller than most in terms of size, but their menu is anything but small with so many delicious plates to feast on.

Firm favourites include the juicy Lamb Maqluba or the flavour-packed Med-One Moussaka.

If go big or go home is your motto, then give their Med One Special Board a go.

This dish comes with a creamy, oven-baked mashed potato, filled with mixed vegetables and your choice of meat, fish or vegetables and a topping of your choice.
